Places to Explore

Beautiful Rubha Hunish, the northernmost point of the island, is a magical place; this is the best walk on Skye for seabird and marine mammal watching and only a brisk walk from Castle View.

Only a short stroll from Castle View, Duntulm Castle was originally built in the 14th and 15th centuries and home to the Macdonald's of Sleat until 1732.

The Castle has a rich history in a beautiful setting with amazing view looking across to the Outer Hebrides.

The world famous Quiraing has been the backdrop for many Hollywood movie including, Stardust, Snow White and the Huntsman, 47 Ronin, Macbeth, The BFG, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and Transformers: The Last Knight.

A must visit location while in Skye and only a short drive from Castle View

This is probably the most famous walk on the Island and definitely the busiest. The ‘Old Man’ is a large pinnacle of rock that stands high and can be seen for miles around.
As part of the Trotternish ridge the Storr was created by a massive ancient landside, leaving one of the most photographed landscapes in the world.

The towering basalt columns that make up the cliff, which are said to resemble the pleats on traditional Scottish plaid, Kilt Rock is a breathtaking site.

From atop these vertical cliffs your eye follows the thundering waterfall as it plunges down into the sea below.

Step back in time to an old Highland village…


The museum offers visitors a unique experience and a true insight into island life a 100 years ago. This award winning attraction is a must for all visitors

On the West side of Trotternish at Balnacnoc (which means - the village or township in the hills) above Uig, is the Fairy Glen – a Quirang-like landslip in miniature. The road winds around small round-topped grassy hills with lochans (ponds) in between which gives the glen an otherworldly feel

Staffin Museum contains excellent collections of local geological and fossil specimens, as well as representative artefacts illustrating the prehistory and social history of the Trotternish area.

Kilvaxter Souterrain is an underground stone-lined tunnel typically associated with Iron Age settlements along the Atlantic fringe. Over 500 have been found in Scotland, of which around 20 are on Skye.
